A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple steps to keep your SilviQ jewellery looking its best for years.
Do
Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, or exercising
Put your jewellery on last — after perfume, lotion, and sunscreen
Clean gently with mild soap, warm water, and a soft toothbrush
Dry thoroughly before storing
Store each piece separately to prevent scratching
Have silver pieces re-plated periodically to restore brightness
Don't
Wear in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, or the sea
Apply perfume, lotion, or sunscreen directly onto the piece
Use harsh chemical cleaners, ultrasonic machines, or abrasive cloths
Sleep in your jewellery — prongs and chains take the most wear overnight
Store silver in humid bathrooms — moisture accelerates tarnishing
Stack gold pieces of different karats — they can scratch each other
How to clean your jewellery

Soak
Place in lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap for 5–10 minutes. Works for silver, gold, and platinum.

Brush
Use a very soft toothbrush to gently clean around stones, settings, and under the shank where buildup collects.

Dry
Rinse under clean water and pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth. Leave to air dry fully before storing or wearing.
Understanding your materials
925 Sterling Silver
Rhodium plated
All SilviQ silver pieces are rhodium-plated for a bright white finish and added tarnish resistance. With regular wear the plating will gradually thin — this is normal and expected. Re-plating restores the original finish. Contact us if your piece needs a refresh.
Gold — 9K to 18K
Yellow, white & rose gold
Gold is more resistant to tarnish than silver and requires less maintenance. Higher karat gold (18K) is softer and benefits from occasional polishing. White gold is rhodium-plated like silver and may require re-plating over time. Rose and yellow gold develop a natural patina with wear.
950 Platinum
Naturally white, no plating required
Platinum is naturally white and doesn't require plating. It develops a soft patina over time which many prefer. It's denser and more durable than gold or silver and will outlast both with normal wear. Occasional professional polishing will restore a high shine if preferred.
Lab-Grown Stones
Diamonds, moissanite & coloured gemstones
Lab-grown diamonds and moissanite are extremely hard (10 and 9.25 Mohs respectively) and won't scratch, cloud, or change colour with normal wear. Lab-grown sapphires and other coloured stones are also highly durable at 8–9 Mohs. A gentle clean every few weeks keeps them at their best.
How to store your pieces
Use the SilviQ box
Every piece ships in a fabric-lined gift box. Keep it — it protects against scratching, dust, and moisture when you're not wearing the piece.
Store pieces separately
Stones can scratch metal and metals can scratch each other. Keep each piece in its own compartment, pouch, or box. This matters especially for mixed-metal collections.
Keep it dry
Store away from humidity — not in a bathroom cabinet. A small silica gel packet in your jewellery box helps control moisture, especially for silver pieces.
